ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the importance of energy and the global energy scenario. The complexity of integrated energy systems and their dynamics require modeling for policy planning and optimization for the operational planning of energy systems. The chapter introduces the system dynamics methodology of constructing computer models based on the feedback concept of control theory to simulate energy systems to analyze policy options and perform the policy planning of integrated energy systems, simulating energy scenarios for different energy policies, and introduces linear programming for the optimal operational planning of energy systems. Finally, the usefulness of modeling and policy planning are discussed in the context of energy modeling and policy planning.
