The mass spectra of the flavonoids and their derivatives, isolated from the fruits of Lindera erythrocarpa MAKINO were examined to elucidate their fragmentation pattern. Electron impact reaction easily converted quinochalcones, the precursor of cyclopentenedione derivatives (A-norchalcone), to cyclopentenedione derivatives by decarbonylation.
