In this paper, nonlinear effects of compression waves propagated in a perforated tube were numerically investigated. The equations of the one-dimensional, unsteady and compressible flow with the mass removal are transformed into characteristic equations, and the variations of the pressure gradient and the strength of compression waves are numerically solved by the method of characteristics. The calculations are performed for tubes with various diameters and porosities, and compression waves with various strengths and pressure gradients with time. The calculated results clarified quantitatively the effects of these parameters for the variations of the pressure gradient with time as well as the strength of the compression waves.
