Abstract

Quantum interference experiments based on coincidence counting are routinely employed—for both diagnostic and application purposes—on the signal and idler outputs of parametric downconverters. This paper uses the complete, Gaussian-state characterization of the downconversion process and quantum photodetection theory to provide an analytical framework for such measurements.
