Abstract

Single-photon emitting devices have been identified as having relevant roles in applications in quantum technologies, ranging from quantum cryptography, quantum computation as well as single-photon metrology. Recent observations have demonstrated that bulk and nanocrystals of silicon-carbide (SiC) can host room-temperature stable bright single quantum emitters. Here we study SiC ultra-thin-films deposited on silicon (Si) substrate using pulsed laser deposition (PLD), towards therein integration of single vacancy related SiC color centres. The main motivation being the assessment of a potentially versatile platform for on-chip quantum nanophotonics
