Abstract

Green tea is rich in flavonols, mainly catechins (flavan 3-ols). Recently, catechins, particularly (-)-epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate (EGCg), have received attention owing to its various biological effects such as antioxidative, antimutagenic, and anticarcinogenic activities (1-3). To evaluate the biological effect of catechins in vivo, however, it is important to elucidate its metabolic fate by determining the concentration in blood and tissues.
