Abstract:
Introduction.-It is a fact long recognized that concrete is a material which, when subjected to sustained stress, continues to yield or to deform over a considerable period of time, so that the stress-strain relation accompanying the instantaneous application of load may be quite different from that existing after the lapse of time. The property of thus yielding, which has been referred to by various designations, will in this paper be termed flow, and it will be understood that flow includes only that plastic deformation which takes place subsequent to the application of load.
