Rotaviral infection: epidemiology aspects, methods of prophylaxis

Rotaviral infection (RVI) plays an important role in the total structure of pediatric and adult morbidity in developed and developing countries. In the structure of acute intestinal infections the part of RVI is 35,54% (50,48% amongst intestinal infections with known agent). An observation of the significant growth of RVI morbidity in children of early age (several months of living) is provided. Among all patients with RVI the children of the 1st year of life compose 20,36-32,14%< children between 0 and 6 months – 7,27- 11,2%, and children aged 0-2 months – 1,02%. In 38,79% of hospitalized patients below 18 RVI is accompanied by other infectious or somatic pathology as a background. Nosocomial propagation of RVI is alleviated by common asymptomatic carriage of rotavirus which is found in 9,8±2,96% of examined children aged 0-3 years who were hospitalized with infectious and somatic pathology in absence of symptoms of gastrointestinal tract lesions. Anolyte solution with pH 6.87, redox potential +950 mV and concentration of active chlorine (Cach) 200 mg/dl possesses significant antiviral activity against rotavirus.
