The present form of Num 25,1–5 is the product of priestly redaction. Its phraseology and structure demonstrate a composite yet patterned process of revision. The passage was finalized in the post-exilic period, at approximately the same time Num 22–33 was given its present form.
La forme actuelle de Num 25,1–5 est le produit d'une rédaction sacerdotale. La phraséologie et la structure montrent à l'oeuvre un processus composite, mais adhérant à une certain forme. Le passage acquit sa forme finale au cours de la période post-exilique, à peu près au moment où Num 22–33 atteignait son aspect actuel.
In der Endfassung geht Num 25,1–5 auf eine priesterliche Redaktion zurück. Sprache und Struktur des Abschnitts deuten auf einen längeren, doch geordneten Redaktionsprozess hin. Die Endredaktion fand in der nachexilischen Zeit statt, ungefähr gleichzeitig derjenigen von Num 22–33.
