Interaction of Chemical Reactive Species – Investigated with Spin-Lattice Relaxation and NOE Measurements

  • A. Oßmann and S. Berger

Abstract

The paper describes attempts to detect interactions or encounter complexes between reacting molecules, although the individual molecules might not succeed in forming a reaction product. As an example, the Diels-Alder reaction is chosen, and the technique employed comprises NMR T1 and NMR NOE measurements. In the case of the intermolecular Diels-Alder reaction both methods were not successful, in the intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction NOE results are able to predict the stereochemical outcome.
