Abstract:
In the field experiments carried out in a production orchard near Bydgoszcz during five vegetation seasons the influence of surface drip irrigation on yield of sour cherry trees (cv. ‘Łutówka’) and plum trees (‘Jerozolimka’ and ‘Ruth Gersteter’) under different rainfall conditions during the vegetation season was examined. Under the influence of drip irrigation the mean five year increase of yield for the sour cherry ‘Łutówka’ cultivar was 2,31 t/ha (25%), for plum of ‘Jerozolimka’ cultivar it was 2,64 t/ha (29%) an for ‘Ruth Gersteter’ 1,0 t/ha (14%). A significant positive relationship (r = 0,860) between irrigation rate and yield gain due to irrigation was found for sour cherry. Sum of rainfall amount and irrigation rate were positively correlated with the fruit weight of sour cherry ‘Łutówka’ and plum ‘Jerozolimka’ (r = 0,833 and r = 0,879, accordingly). The similar significant dependence (r) calculated for the two plum cultivars together equaled 0,719.
