The spatial structure of the ancient city is also constantly improving, and the spatial form has become a research hotspot. Therefore, based on the theory and method of spatial syntax, this paper takes spatial morphology as the breakthrough point and studies the evolution of spatial morphology of Pingyao ancient city in three periods: the Kangxi period, the late Qing period, and the recent period. The research shows that the ancient city’s spatial structure remains relatively stable, and meanwhile, the ancient city has several core areas, and commonalities and characteristics. Above all, the background factors of the times affect the ancient city’s overall style and features and the deep street space is alienated from the main landscape.
