Born within the modern colonial history, the writer maps the journey of reading a book that had colonized her, and the continuity of colonizing ideology in the academic study of the Bible. Proposing to decolonize biblical studies from its Eurocentricism, the exclusive focus on the ancient Greco-Roman world in the study of biblical studies is problematized, since it brackets questions about modern colonialism; biblical mission texts’ attitudes towards the Other and towards the imperialism of their time are investigated; the use of gender to articulate positions of inequality is explored, and other ways of reading the Bible are proposed. In a bid to profile both the colonizing and the colonized Bible reader of modern times the writer’s current research reads letters of the modern colonial context, seeking to identify strategies of domination, resistance, collaboration and the emergence of hybridity in the modern colonial contact zone. Der Beitrag unterstreicht die Grenzüberschreitungen der postkolonialen Welt und die daraus folgenden globalen Diasporaidentitäten. In der modernen Kolonialgeschichte geboren zeichnet die Autorin ihre Reise des Lesens des Buches, das sie kolonialisiert hat, auf, wie auch die bleibende kolonialisierende Ideologie in akademischen Bibelwissenschaften. Um biblische Studien von ihrem Eurozentrismus zu dekolonialisieren, problematisiert die Autorin den ausschließlichen Fokus auf die klassische griechisch-römische Welt in den Bibelwissenschaften; sie untersucht die Haltung in biblischen Missionstexten gegenüber den Anderen und dem Imperialismus ihrer Zeit; sie erforscht die Verwendung von Geschlecht, um Positionen von Ungleichheit zu artikulieren, und schlägt andere Wege, die Bibel zu lesen, vor. Mit dem Ziel, sowohl die kolonialisierenden und die kolonialisierten Bibel-LeserInnen der Moderne zu profilieren, liest die Autorin in ihrer aktuellen Forschung Briefe aus dem modernen kolonialen Kontext, um Strategien von Dominierung, Widerstand, Kollaboration und das Erscheinen von Hybridität in der modernen kolonialen Kontaktzone zu identifizieren. El artículo destaca los cruces de múltiples fronteras del mundo postcolonial y las posteriores identidades diaspóricas globales. Nacido dentro de la historia colonial moderna, la escritora marca el camino de la lectura de un libro que ha sido colonizado, y la continuidad de la colonización de la ideología en el estudio académico de la Biblia. Propone descolonizar los estudios bíblicos de su eurocentrismo, un enfoque exclusivo centrado en el antiguo mundo grecorromano. Los estudios bíblicos se problematizan, ya que ponen entre paréntesis preguntas sobre el colonialismo moderno. Las actitudes de los textos bíblicos de misión hacia el otro y hacia el imperialismo de su tiempo se deben investigar; el uso del género para articular posiciones de desigualdad debe ser explorado, y la propuesta de otras maneras de leer la Biblia también. En un intento de matizar tanto al colonizador como al lector de la Biblia colonizada de los tiempos modernos. La investigación actual de la escritora descubre aspectos del contexto colonial moderno, buscando identificar las estrategias de dominación, la resistencia, la colaboración y el surgimiento de la hibridez en el espacio de encuentro colonial actual. |
