This study was to investigate the methods for team performance analysis in football based on the 2002 and 2006 football worldcup data. Accordingly, the valid performance indicators had to be selected in the study that the official data from the Media Channel was gathered into the MS Excel package. Three aspects for the comparisons were chosen such as the differences by regional features, winning/losing factors and higher/lower ranks. Totally, 256 games on the 2002, 2006 football worldcup were selected and 49 variables were used in this study. The data gathered was determined with descriptive statistics and the nonparametric statistics such as Kruskal-Wallis H tests, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks tests and Mann-Whitney U tests. Additionally, the Jonckheere-Terpstra test was used for the post-hoc comparisons of the Kruskal-Wallis H tests. The results found that there were significant differences of regional features on 2-4 variables such as Short-Passes, Total goals and Offsides(p<.05). Especially, the comparisons between Asia/Oceania and others shown that there was significant difference of % shots to goals(p<.05). Within the comparisons between winning, losing and draw situation, there were a couple of significant differences found that most variables relevant to the goals were significantly different(p<.05). Finally, the variables relating to passing and shots were significantly different(p<.05) that it would indicate the differs of team performance features.
