The purpose of this study was to introduce a systematic and scientific sport-related social intervention program aiming at solving various social problems. In order to do so, this study brought Lipsey’s treatment theory. It appears to be very useful to develop and evaluate a social intervention program because each stage of the theory shows the logic model of the program linking from problems, program treatment, program mechanism, to program outcome. Through this theory, we are able to not only specify sport and leisure activities which are applied to treat problems identified as individual and social-environmental problems, but also explain program mechanism and outcomes. This study developed a model program guided by a program theory of youth online game addiction. This online game addiction program explained how sport and leisure activities can treat youth online addiction and more importantly how this program can evaluate the effects of the program based on the theory-based evaluation. This study is supposed to contribute to provide more scientific and systematic ways to design and evaluate various sport-related social intervention programs.
