초록

본 연구는 전두피질 비대칭성이 심리적 건강의 생물학적 바탕이 될 수 있는가를 알아보기 위해서 수행되었다. 연구 1에서 기저선 EEG 활동은 1회 60초간 지속되는 5회 눈을 뜬 채로 그리고 5회 눈을 감은 채로 측정되었다. 알파 파워(α power)의 비대칭성은 중전두영역, 외측전두영역 및 전측두영역에서 산출되었고, 이것을 기초로 하여 실험참가자들은 좌측 활성화 집단과 우측 활성화 집단으로 할당되었다. 각 전두영역에서 활성화 집단에 따라 자기보고 정서, 동기 및 긍정적 성격특질의 측정치를 비교하였는데, 중전두영역에서 좌측 활성화 집단이 우측 활성화 집단보다 높은 수준의 긍정적 정서, 접근동기, 행복, 희망 및 자아회복력을 나타내었다. 연구 2에서도 기저선 측정에 따라 좌측 활성화 집단과 우측활성화 집단으로 나누어졌다. 중전두영역의 좌측 활성화 집단은 우측 활성화 집단에 비해 긍정적 사진자극과 심상활동에 의한 긍정적 정서의 증가를 보고하였다. 또한 긍정적 사진과 심상활동은 중전두피질의 좌측 활성화를 증가시켰다. 이 결과는 주관적 보고 측정치와 생리적 측정치를 통해서 중전두피질의 좌측 활성화가 긍정적 정서와 접근동기를 포함하는 심리적 건강의 생물학적 기제가 될 수 있음을 시사해준다.
