Texts Selection for Teaching How to Read Writings of Demonstration and Teaching Methods

Abstract/초록/요약

This Thesis has chosen factors for education on demonstration, which can complement current education system based on theories of formal logics accepted by Korean Language Education curriculum in line with recognition on the importance of teachings on logics, and writings of actual learners. Furthermore, it is focusing on ways to choose texts for educational purpose and make use of chosen texts. Demonstration is a form of writing, which aims at making readers to believe certain facts which is not proven yet or to urge in a certain way in accordance with what is proven, by presenting backgrounds and processes to an argument or conclusion in a logical way. Therefore, writing of demonstration should focus on what the subject is, whether showing clear objective reasons are provided, and whether the writing is developed by rational inference. We can have strong fundamental to enjoy reasonable language life by self-reflection of illogical one through understanding and expressing demonstration texts, and by developing one's argument logically. Since writings of demonstration cannot be achieved by short-term education, teachers shall check what aspects are the weak points of learners and support them by various texts materials in order to help their writings ability to develop. In other words, texts for education on demonstration writings should be carefully selected considering current theories and writing skillfulness of learners in order to conduct effective teaching. Besides that, texts in existing textbooks are reconstituted or texts from articles or editorials are chosen to teach such factors, and concrete teaching ways are suggested. This study is expected to be a practical material for teaching of logical writing and make contribution to upgrade leaners' writing skill of demonstration.
