Investigating the Role of Improving Efficiency and Development of Mechanization on Achieving Barley Production Goals (Irrigated and Dry land) during the Sixth Five-Year Development Plan

[English]

In this study, the technical, allocative, cost, revenue and profit efficiency values of barley (irrigated and dry land) production in 26 provinces of the country considering the role of fixed input of mechanization input using the data envelopment analysis method and published data of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture were examined to determine the potential increasing in production to achieve the goals of the Sixth Development Plan by improving efficiency. The results showed that the average technical, allocative and cost efficiency in irrigated barley cultivation was higher than dry land barley and mechanization improved the performance of the studied indicators. The low cost efficiency in irrigated barley was due to allocation inefficiency of inputs and in dry land barley due to the low technical efficiency. The average cost efficiency in irrigated barley, without taking into account the role of mechanization, was 0.79, which was mainly due to improper allocation of used inputs.
