Abstract
The management of global production networks is very demanding for managers and therefore poses a challenge for management tools. This article describes Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) as an instrument that can live up to these challenges. As a decentralized, bottom-up process it allows for benefits of localization in planning. Simultaneously, the tool also offers network-wide integration and aligns the production network to support the company's strategic plan.
