ABSTRACT:

In Colombia, peasant women have been historically marginalized from the satisfaction of their rights. In the economic aspect, there is evidence of the lack of opportunities for access to employment and credit resources. This document analyzes the social and solidarity economy process of the Inzá Tierradentro Peasant Association ACIT and the potential for the women´s empowerment. Based on qualitative research and critical social theory, a documentary review was make to establish categories of analysis on the field of agrarian, economic and gender studies. Subsequently, the context of women and the economic proposal promoted by the peasant community were characterize. Finally, the characteristics of the women of the ACIT were identify through intersectional analysis to understand the factors that contributed to their empowerment. This research shows how the social and solidarity economy proposed by the ACIT promotes the satisfaction of the human rights of women and communities, by proposing a change to the paradigm of welfare and development. The women who are part of these activities progressively change the idea about themselves, their rights and abilities promoting autonomy in decision-making. This issue has a relationship with the strengthening of the peasant identity. Finally, the existence of organizational forms of peasant women may contravene the existing power scheme; generate changes in the equity of family and community relations.
