초록

IEC61400-3-2 is the standard for designing floating offshore wind turbines prepared by the International Electrotechnical Commission. In this study, the standard criteria for the stability of floating offshore wind turbines are assessed. The floating stability clause is defined by referring to the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) offshore structure-related regulations and other recognized standards. However, the IMO regulations do not take into account the characteristics of floating offshore wind turbines, and are therefore unsuitable for stability verification. In particular, the overturning moment, which was considered only for the wind load, did not reflect the characteristics of floating offshore wind turbines. The external forces that negatively affect static stability should not only be considered for wind loads, but also for thrust and current loads. Finally, it is verified by comparing the results of applying the current standard and the results of additional consideration of the characteristics of floating offshore wind turbines through an intact and damaged stability review of the 5-MW spar model.
