초록

In order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, a huge amount of renewable power will be installed to substitute for fossil-fueled power. Since there is a big risk that global climate oscillations may cause large fluctuations in renewable power generation, this study analyzed the correlation between wind resources on the Korean Peninsula and global climate oscillations using reanalysis data. The reanalysis data sets, Climate Forecast System Reanalysis (CFSR), European Meteorological Archival (ERA-Interim), and Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications Version 2 (MERRA-2) showed similar results. The Multivariate ENSO Index (MEI) showed the broadest positive/negative correlation globally, whereas high correlation with the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) or West North Pacific Monsoon Index (WNPMI) were limited to their monitoring areas. There was little negative correlation between all climate indices on the Korean Peninsula, and only a part of the Korea Strait and the East Coast showed a positive correlation with the MEI, which requires further analysis.
