본 연구는 금원산 자연휴양림과 생태수목원을 방문하는 탐방객의 성향과 태도, 산림보호에 대한 의식, 환경용어에 대한 인식에 관하여 설문을 실시하였다. 탐방객의 성별은 남자가 47%로 많았고 연령의 분포는 30대에서 40대가 65%였다. 교육수준은 대졸이 63%로 가장 높았다. 거주지는 경남이 45%, 대구 24%였다..
탐방객의 방문동기는 생태수목원의 학습방문이 37%, 자연휴양림의 산림휴양이 36%였다. 탐방객의 산림휴양 및 생태수목원의 이용은 연 4-5회 정도가 가장 많았다. 산림보호에 대한 탐방객의 만족도는 90%가 만족하였다. 산림보호에 관한 의식은 산림지역에서 인위적 가해를 한 경험이 62%가 없었고, 38%는 경험이 있는 것으로 조사되었고, 취사행위는 95%가 하지 않았다. 탐방객에 대한 산림보호의 상태는 84%가 국민의 인식이 달라졌다고 응답했다. 산림보호 실천에 대하여 탐방객의 57%가 산림보호를 실천하고 있었다. 환경용어에 관한 지식 95%가 환경용어에 대하여 알고 있었다
A questionnaire was conducted to investigate the awareness of forest protection and environmental terminology and visitor’s propensity of people visiting subalpine ecological arboretum located in the Mt. Geumwon Natural Recreational Forest. 47% of the visitors were male and age of 30 and 40’s, which was 65% of overall visitors, was the most common visitors. 63% of visitors were college graduates. Residence in Gyeongnam was the highest as 45% followed by residence in Daegu as 24%. Purposes to visit subalpine ecological arboretum were nature-learning of subalpine ecological arboretum (37%) and forest recreation (36%). Visitors used the ecological arboretum and forest recreation, 4to 5 times a year. 90% of visitors were satisfied with the forest protection condition. In investigation on the awareness of the forest protection, 62% of peoples did no artificial forest injury while 38% did injury to forest area. 95% of visitors did not conduct the cooking. 84% of visitors have been answered that the public awareness on the forest protection has changed. According to this study, 57% of visitors thought to protect the forest and 95% of visitors have known about the environmental terminology.
