본 연구는 스마트폰 시장에서 협업이 이루어졌을 때 브랜드 관여도가 높은 소비자는 브랜드 콜라보레이션 제품에 대해 더 높은 가격을 지불할 의사가 있을 것이라는 가정을 가지고 20대 대학생202명을 대상으로 설문조사하여 실증 분석 하였다.
분석 결과 브랜드 콜라보레이션 이미지, 브랜드 관여도 및 가격이 구매의도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 특히 소비자의 이미지에 맞는 콜라보레이션 제품과 소비자가 필요한 제품일 때 구매의도가 더 높았으며 이는 브랜드 콜라보레이션 제품 자체보다 소비자에게 초점을 둔 마케팅 전략이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 브랜드 콜라보레이션 제품의 가격이 높을수록 제품을 매력적이라고 생각하지만 너무 높은 고가인 경우에는 구매의도가 급격히 떨어지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 즉 적정한 가격의 브랜드 콜라보레이션 제품일 때 구매의도가 조절된다는 시사점을 제공해준다.
