This study focuses on the active development of the resources at Shinum Village in the farming and fishing region of Aewol-eup on Jeju Island for the establishment of an identity for the villagers. Also, at the same time, it emphasizes the utilization of such resources for the activation of the village. According to the analysis related to the development of the resources at Shinum Village, a total number of 21 resources, including 9 natural ones and 12 cultural ones, have been found. It has been found that 12 of them, combining both natural and cultural resources, have a relatively higher value as resources, showing a possibility of utilization. Furthermore, regarding the 12 resources at Shinum Village, which can be utilized in the current stage, a story-telling process has been applied. The objective of such a process for the resources at the village is to increase the possibility of utilizing resources based on such factors as the characteristics and features(10 categories), definitions and symbolic meanings of the subject resources in addition to their connection with the villagers. Even if this study focuses on the case of Shinum Village where it is relatively easy to obtain information, it will be possible to focus on the development and utilization of the village resources through the cases of other villages on Jeju Island in the future.
