Abstract
Alcohol-induced hypoglycemia was experimentally studied in male albino rats. Intraperitoneal injections of 30% ethanol resulted in a significant decrease in blood-sugar levels (relative to saline-injection control animals) in subjects that had fasted 48 and 72 h. Alcohol-induced hypoglycemia was not found in nonfasted animals.
