ABSTRACT
Because the trainees who only understand by elaboration are unable to understand in detail the contents taught by the words [of the title] and their associated significance, the Bhagavat expounded this Tantra with the words ‘the transformation of the Tathāgatas’ and so forth to aid them. (6b) Thus, you should understand that it is necessary to relate to them the cause of Vairocana and what his essential nature is like, the cause of his Full Enlightenment and what its essential nature is like, when its manifestation arises and what its essential nature is like, and how that manifestation is revealed by way of the mudrās, mandalas and so on, and so all these things are taught in this Tantra in order to aid them. Therefore, I shall bring together the words of the Tantra which teach the meanings variously encompassed by those themes.
