ABSTRACT

Development of the brain is a continuous process in which one stage then enables the next. The neurons, once formed, migrate to a specific location in one of the regions of the brain to form the “gray matter” which comprises the outermost layer of the brain. One source of relevant information comes from standardized memory tests for children and in particular memory for prose. This forms a major component of most adult memory scales and has been shown to be a good indicator of everyday memory performance. A more general case of the role of semantic memory comes through the increasing vocabulary acquired by children. One problem with recall in young children may be the lack of adequate language to express their memory.
