ABSTRACT

This chapter talks about a contemporary field of research that is concerned with unintended consequences resulting from advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Sophisticated capabilities of AI at deep learning and enterprise level have the potential to deskill workers and lead to a wide range of negative effects on multiple stakeholders. This chapter explores the latest research and proposes a framework for different levels of human-AI configurations that aid airlines and aviation companies in their adoption of AI technology while preventing dullness and safeguarding workers’ skills, accountability, and job satisfaction. It concludes that hybrid intelligence will lead to long-term beneficial outcomes because it will encourage creativity and new forms of synergies between human–AI interaction that will be inclusive.
