Recent developement of C-H and C-O bonds activation by transition metal complexes is described. In this review, oxidative addition of C-H and C-O bonds toward transition metals accompanied by the bond breakage of these bonds is regarded as an important step of the activation. Application of the oxidative addition of C-H and C-O bonds to organic synthesis is also described.
