Description

This paper proposes to explore the opportunities offered by the TEI in the context of this specific type of publications. In a first step, it will address a series of publishing issues that are likely to be eased by using the TEI as a format for scholarly journals (among others questions of archiving, accessibility, interoperability). In a second step, it will draw from two experiences to define the specific challenges involved by the use of the TEI in scholarly journals in the Humanities. The evolutions of the Journal of the TEI during the 3 years where I have been its Managing Editor will be presented, and with them, the challenges that led to strategic decisions, their impact and the way they are likely to evolve in the future. Finally, I will draw on an experimentation with a data journal platform to present an alternative publication and evaluation model, its possible implementation and its meaning for the Humanities at large.
