By definition, people with Asperger’s syndrome would not meet the criteria for having a learning disability, but increasingly services are being asked to debate whether they have anything to offer this group of people, as soma of the challenges faced by them have elements in common with people with a learning disability. These may include difficulties with social understanding and relationships and emotional expression and understanding. There are, however, many marked differences which can leave learning disability specialists feeling that they lack knowledge about people with Asperger’s syndrome.
