Teamwork in primary care will become increasingly important as the White Paper A New NHS is implemented. In this article, the author describes the proceedings of a conference held to discuss the implications of this policy

As plans for local primary care developments take shape, teamwork continues to be an important element in effective primary care services. The nature and implications of teamwork were examined at a conference held jointly between the RCN and the Royal Society of Medicine at the Royal Society of Medicine in February 1997.
