[Ref-Links] linking seen from a library environment

Dear,

After having read the Report on "the Workshop on Linkage from Citations
to Electronic Journal Literature", I thought that the following paper
might be of interst:

http://ivanhoe.lanl.gov/hvds/htmls/sfx.htm

The paper describes a mechanism to link between A&I services, OPACs and
full-text collections, as used in a recent linking experiment. As you
will see, the requirements for the system to work are actually very
elementary from a technical point of view. But the solution can not be
achieved without cooperation of the information industry.

The paper has been submitted to D-Lib magazine and is due to be
published in the April 99 issue.

If you have little spare time, you can start reading the paper from the
"SFX Linking" section. I look forward to your comments.

Herbert
