[Ref-Links] Final Call for S-Link-S Template Language
The S-Link-S Template language is now at final call for comment stage, as
everything has been implemented in Java code.
The new version of the spec is at http://www.openly.com/SLinkS/SLinkS.html
The new template DTD is at http://www.openly.com/SLinkS/slinks.dtd (do a
view source if you see nothing in your browser.)
Note that the metadata schema (the RDF) has not been revised, and there's
still a good bit of work left to do there.
Anyone interested in alpha testing the S-Link-S Calculator should contact
me by e-mail. The calculator is a java program which takes a template and
bibliographic data and computes URL's and DOi's. I should have a first
release, with source and docs, ready to test within two weeks. If you don't
know what a "jar" file is, then this first release is not for you.
For the curious, here are the major changes:
1. authenticated signatures are now supported.
2. due to arcane XML rules for external entities, some syntax had to be changed
3. elements were rearranged for single-pass parsing
4. a "locator" element was added that allows a template to locate
individual pieces of data on a returned page. It's used internally for
lookups of DOi's (the Wiley doi server was used as a test) and PubMed ID's.
